A Word From Our Principal
Welcome to Benjamin Franklin School, home of the Falcons! My name is Shawnna Derache and I am thrilled to be the Principal at Franklin! I come to Franklin with 32 years of experience in Anaheim Elementary School District and this is my eleventh year as a site principal. In addition, we welcome our new Vice Principal, Dr. Jenny Hitchcock to the Franklin staff. We look forward to meeting you and working together to support our incredible students!
Our Franklin family consists of an extremely dedicated staff which promotes nurturing relationships and academic excellence in a positive and inclusive environment. They are committed to ensuring that our students learn, grow and thrive while in our care.
We are pleased to announce that Franklin is a Community School this year! Our Community School Program offers integrated student support, expanded enrichment opportunities, family and community engagement events, and collaborative leadership practices. Please look for announcements of upcoming community events on our Franklin Parent Square platform.
Thank you for your continued patience, kindness, and safety during arrival and dismissal times. It is important to remember not to double park on Water Street. We want to keep our students as safe as possible!

It is recommended the Board of Education declare a public hearing for the purpose of hearing comments from the public regarding whether pupils in the school will have during the 2026–27 school year sufficient textbooks and/or instructional materials consistent with the content and cycles of the curriculum frameworks adopted by the California Department of Education (Education Code sections 60119 and 33126).
After hearing comments from the public, the Board President will give notice that a vote on this item is scheduled for the September 9, 2026 Regular Board meeting.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Regular Board of Education Meeting of June 10, 2026
The Board President is requested to declare a public hearing for the purpose of review and adoption of the SELPA Annual Service Plan and Annual Budget Plan in accordance with Education Code §56205. These documents are a required component of the SELPA Local Plan, and will be submitted to the California Department of Education by June 30, 2026.
Copies of this plan are available for inspection at the Anaheim Elementary School District Office, Special Services Department.
After hearing comments from the public, the Board President will give notice that a vote on this item is scheduled for the June 17, 2026, Regular Board meeting.
