I come to Franklin with 32 years of experience in Anaheim Elementary School District and this is my eleventh year as a site principal. In addition, we welcome our new Vice Principal, Dr. Jenny Hitchcock to the Franklin staff.  We look forward to meeting you and working together to support our incredible students!

Our Franklin family consists of an extremely dedicated staff which promotes nurturing relationships and academic excellence in a positive and inclusive environment. They are committed to ensuring that our students learn, grow and thrive while in our care.

We are pleased to announce that Franklin is a Community School this year!  Our Community School Program offers integrated student support, expanded enrichment opportunities, family and community engagement events, and collaborative leadership practices. Please look for announcements of upcoming community events on our Franklin Parent Square platform.

Thank you for your continued patience, kindness, and safety during arrival and dismissal times. It is important to remember not to double park on Water Street. We want to keep our students as safe as possible!

At Franklin School, we value a strong home-school connection. We encourage you to contact us with any questions you may have. We look forward to an outstanding school year!!

Public Hearing Notice: Extended School Year (ESY) Waiver

Educational Services
Office of Assistant Superintendent

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Regular Board of Education Meeting of April 8, 2026
Anaheim Elementary School District Staff Development Center
1001 S. East Street, Board Room - Building B, Anaheim. CA 92805 6:30 p.m.

The Board President is requested to declare a public hearing for the purpose of review and adoption of a waiver request to modify AESD's Extended School Year (ESY) program from 20 days (4 hours daily) to 16 days of instruction (5 hours daily). The shift in schedule will facilitate alignment with the dates of the general education summer instructional program, support increased opportunities for inclusive programming, reduce challenges for families with students in multiple programs, and support greater cohesion for staff and students.

Use of the waiver request process will also ensure the District remains in compliance with Ed Code Section 3043 (d) related to Extended School Year.

After hearing comments from the public, the Board President will give notice that a vote on this item is scheduled at the April 8, 2026, Regular Board meeting.

School & District Parent & Family Engagement Policies 2025-2026

Research indicates that Parent and Family Engagement (PFE) help children achieve high academic standards. When schools work together with parents in school activities, and both schools and families engage in shared decision making regarding children’s education, students are more likely to acquire literacy at faster rates.

The links below contain the AESD and Parent & Family Engagement Policies. The policies are jointly developed with parents to establish objectives for meaningful parent and family involvement. (20 U.S.C. sections 6312, 6318[a][2])
