Welcome to Ponderosa Elementary School – Home of the Pride

A Word From Our Principal

Principal - Yadira Moreno

Dear Ponderosa Families,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our wonderful school, “Home of the PRIDE!” Ponderosa takes pride in being Anaheim Elementery’s highest enrolled elementary school following a 4 track multi-year calendar. The newly built site is filled with classrooms that are equipped with a high level of technology, a laser like focus on student learning and a college going campus that ascribes to an idea that all students at Ponderosa can be SCHOLARS!

The teaching and support staff have created a culture that is driven by two staunch beliefs: Safety and Learning! All student expectations are centered on a Positive Behavior Paradigm that encourages students to demonstrate PRIDE, RESPECT, EXCELLENCE, SAFETY and SCHOLARLY behaviors throughout our school community.

Student Learning drives the day to day schedule and all programs afforded to students and families alike. Teachers collaborate to plan lessons that will prepare students for the global economy and the 21st century skill needed to be future thriving citizens. Student learning is defined by our ability to engage and give access to high level thinking and learning activities for ALL students. Furthermore, this learning involves a focus on mastery of grade level standards, reading and understanding expository text, writing across the curriculum and working collaboratively with their peers.

I invite you to be part of our vision for student learning by getting involved in our school community. We have many opportunities for our parents to participate both inside and outside the classroom. A community liaison spearheads many of our parent engagement activities and is always ready to welcome you!

I look forward to personally meeting you as opportunities arise in our school to build positive parent school relationships.

As always, if you have questions, comments, or feedback, please do not hesitate to call, email or drop-in.

With Gratitude,
Principal Yadira Moreno
