Welcome to Thomas Jefferson Elementary School

A Word From Our Principal

Principal - Sandra Song

Dear Parents and Families,

It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I introduce myself as the new school principal of Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this school community that has such a rich tradition of academic excellence, innovation, and genuine care for their students. Over the last few weeks, I have been spending a lot of time at Jefferson getting to know the the building, the neighborhood, the school community, and the wonderful staff here. It is clear that Jefferson is a place where there are caring adults who are dedicated to doing what’s best for kids!

I’ve been in education for over 18 years. I started my teaching career here in Anaheim Elementary School District as a 1st grade teacher at Paul Revere School in 1995. Since then I’ve had a wide variety of teaching/leadership positions. In addition to years of elementary classroom teaching, I have also served as a bilingual instructional aide, Class Size Reduction teacher, Title 1 teacher, Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) for Intervention, Curriculum Coach, Vice Principal, and Principal. I have served in the Anaheim Elementary School District for 17 years at Revere, Roosevelt, Stoddard, Madison, and Palm Lane. I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I went on to pursue my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership at Walden University. I believe wholeheartedly that learning never stops! Learning and growing for all of us adults, as well as students, is the hallmark of my leadership style.

My mission is to create a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment that values diversity and instills respect for others while promoting a rigorous curriculum, effective instruction, and meaningful assessments so that all Jefferson Eagles can not only succeed, but thrive. When we work together as a unified school community (parents, families, staff, students, community), there is little we cannot do. I look forward to meeting you and thank you in advance for welcoming me here. My door is open so please do stop by and say hello!

On behalf of the entire Jefferson staff, we welcome you [back] to the 2016-2017 school year at Thomas Jefferson School.

Warmest regards,
Sandra Song
