A Word From Our Principal

July 2018

On behalf of the staff at Horace Mann, I would like to introduce myself and welcome you to the 2018-19 school year! My name is Louie Magdaleno and I am the new principal. I have been a leader in Anaheim for the past 18 years in a variety of roles including: vice principal, principal, and most recently the Senior Director of Leadership. I look forward to supporting the Mann school community to sustain a safe and caring learning environment in support and the academic achievement and social-emotional well being of ALL students.

Important Reminders:

  • NEW School Office Hours: 7:15 a.m. – to 4:15 p.m. Monday-through Friday

  • School uniforms: We are a uniform school. Students should wear school uniform clothing daily. Information about our uniform policy is included in the first day packet.

  • Student Arrival: Students may begin arriving on campus no earlier than 7:30 am. Breakfast is served to ALL at the lunch tables beginning at 7:30 am. Please safely use the front or back of the school to drop off students by car. Walking students may enter south campus by lunch table, or from the west side of the campus on Northgate. Instruction begins promptly at 8:10 a.m. for ALL grades.

  • Student Dismissal: Walking students will be dismissed to walk home at the end of the instructional day. All students must be picked up not later than 15 minutes after dismissal. Students being picked up late will need to be signed out from office. TK-Kinder: ALL students must be signed out-EVERYDAY.

Instructional Materials Notice of Public Hearing

Regular Board of Education Meeting of July 25, 2018 6:30 p.m

It is recommended the Board of Education declare a public hearing for the purpose of hearing comments from the public regarding whether pupils in the school will have during the 2018-19 school year sufficient textbooks and/or instructional materials consistent with the content and cycles of the curriculum frameworks adopted by the California Department of Education {Education Code Sections 60119} and 60422 and is therefore, eligible to receive funding from the Pupil Textbook and Instructional Materials Incentive program (Education Code §60252).

After hearing comments from the public, the Board President will give notice that a vote on this item is scheduled for the August 22, 2018, Regular Board meeting.

2017-18 Notice of Public Hearing LCAP Plan

It is recommended the Board of Education declare a public hearing for the purpose of reviewing the proposed LCAP Plan and Proposed Budget for the 2018-19 school year within the Anaheim Elementary School District, in accordance with the provisions of Education Code Section §52062.

This public hearing is to allow for public comment and recommendations regarding the specific actions and expenditures proposed to be included in the Local Accountability Plan and the 2018-19 Budget at which time the Board will hear any relevant public comment.

The LCAP Plan and Proposed Budget are on file and available for public review at the Anaheim Elementary School District, Office of Educational Services.

After hearing comments from the public, the Board President will give notice that a vote on this item is scheduled for the June 27, 2018, Regular Board meeting.

2017-18 Notice of Public Hearing SELPA Plan

The Board President is requested to declare a public hearing for the purpose of review and adoption of the SELPA Annual Service Plan and Annual Budget Plan in accordance with Education Code §56205. These documents are required component of the SELPA Local Plan, and will be submitted to the California Department of Education by June 30, 2018.

Copies of this plan are available for inspection at the Anaheim Elementary School District Office, Special Services Department.

After hearing comments from the public, the Board President will give notice that a vote on this item is scheduled for the June 27, 2018, Regular Board meeting.
