Income Requirements

Maximum Allowable Family Income for State Preschool 23-24

Effective January 1, 2021, CSPP CSPP California State Preschool Program age eligible four year old children whose family exceeds the maximum allowable income may qualify for State Preschool under the Free and Reduced-Price Meal (FRPM) eligibility requirements so long as the family attends the school of residence. Address verification will be required upon enrollment.

Schedule of Incoming Ceilings

The following Schedule of Income Ceilings must be used for determining income eligibility for families initially certified or recertified on or after July 1, 2023. The schedule must also be used for determining maximum monthly income for 15 percent above the income eligibility threshold.

How to apply for State Preschool

  1. Ensure your child’s birthdate eligibility as stated above.
  2. Complete the State Preschool Interest Survey

Required Documents

Certification of enrollment is processed until the enrollment packet and required documents are submitted and verified by an ECE staff. The required documents include, but not limited to the following:

  1. Proof of Family Income (four weeks of recent and consecutive income verification)
  2. Proof of Family Size (Birth Certificates for all children in family)
  3. Child’s Recent Physical Exam that must be signed by your child’s doctor
  4. Child’s Immunization Record up-to-date with current Tuberculosis (TB) test results
  5. Immunization Record for Adult Volunteer: proof of Pertussis (Tdap), Measles (MMR) immunization, current Tuberculosis (TB) test results that are within 4 years, Covid-19, and optional Influenza.
  6. If a family receives Cash aide, CAL-Works (welfare), Food Stamps and/or Child Support, these documents must be submitted at the time of certification appointment, if not sooner.
