A Word From Our Principal

Principal - Jesse Chavarria
The research on Repeated Reading: Repeated reading improves the reading fluency and comprehension of students with and without learning disabilities, not only on the passages with which students previously used the strategy, but also with new passages. Several instructional components are found to be essential to the success of repeated reading. Rereading a passage until a set number of words per minute is reached has shown a significant positive impact on students’ progress during repeated reading. The greatest improvements are seen when students are asked to focus on both fluency and comprehension together.

Repeated reading is a strategy that we use here at Price to help our scholars improve their fluency and comprehension. This is a strategy you can practice at home as well. All you need to do is ask your child to select a section in their book that has at least 100-200 words. You ask your child to read it and repeat the reading several times. This strategy will help your child improve his fluency and will lead to improvement in comprehension as well.
