Welcome to Madison Elementary School

A Word From Our Principal

Principal - Diane Eatherly
Principal message

Dear students and parents,

On behalf of the James Madison Staff, I am delighted to welcome you and your child to Madison School. I am honored to be your school principal and take great pride in working with a community that holds high expectations for student learning.

I am very excited with the continuation of our implementation of our distinguishing practice emphasizing Fitness and Nutrition school. Over the next few years we will be strategically implementing strategies to ensure a high level of fitness education and activity throughout the school day. Students will also be learning about the importance of balanced nutrition, calorie intake and planning healthy meals. There will be many opportunities for families to support and participate in this essential learning.

One our school practices is a modification of Lunch with a Loved One. At each of these special lunches there focus on a specific color of a fruit or vegetable and parents will be asked to bring a fruit or vegetable to share with their child. This will provide families additional opportunities to talk about healthy food choices as well as time to collaborate in choosing the fruit or vegetable. Throughout the year you will be notified of special events related to our distinguishing practice. We will continue with the implementation of Common Core State Standards. Madison teachers and I participate in professional development throughout the school year to support our students’ academic and physical fitness goals.

I am so proud that Madison welcomes the integration of technology into our instructional day. Students have daily access to chromebooks and the use to Google apps as tools to complete their work. We also offer after school clubs that allow students to learn computer coding skills.

Parent classes are offered all school year will be designed to develop your understanding of Common Core State Standards, instructional strategies, use of technology, parenting skills and how you can best support your child at home.

At Madison we take pride in working closely with our community to ensure the success of every child.

Sincerely,
Diane Eatherly, principal
