Jesus “Jesse” Chavarria
Currently in his 31st year in education, Jesus “Jesse” Chavarria proudly serves as the Superintendent of the Anaheim Elementary School District, California’s largest elementary-only district.
Mr. Chavarria began his journey in education nearly three decades ago with the South Whittier School District as a dedicated teacher, where he served for five years. Twenty-five years ago, he joined AESD as a sixth-grade teacher and has since held numerous positions including teacher-on-special-assignment, vice principal, principal, and transportation director. For the past four years, Mr. Chavarria served as AESD’s Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services.
Mr. Chavarria holds a Master’s degree in Education from Whittier College and a Bachelor of Arts in Business from California State University, Fullerton. This unique combination of educational and business expertise allows him to effectively manage the district’s resources and spearhead strategic initiatives focused on fiscal responsibility and educational excellence.
A notable achievement in Mr. Chavarria’s career was the establishment of AESD’s first Dual Language program in 2006, promoting inclusive educational opportunities. As Assistant Superintendent, he played a crucial role in navigating the district through the challenges of the pandemic, ensuring the continuity of education and safety for all students. His oversight of numerous construction projects has significantly enhanced AESD’s school facilities, creating conducive environments for teaching and learning.
With a rich history of dedication and leadership within AESD, Mr. Chavarria possesses invaluable experience to lead the Anaheim Elementary School District to new heights ensuring continued excellence for all students of AESD.
