Community Advisory Committee (CAC)
The Anaheim Elementary School District is committed to providing a free, appropriate public education for all students in the least restrictive environment. Placement and services for students with disabilities are assigned in accordance with a student’s unique needs. A continuum of program options is available, such as speech and language therapy, specialized academic instruction (resource specialist program or special day class), occupational therapy, physical therapy, and counseling. All students are ensured of access to the general education curriculum and participation in the general education environment, as appropriate and as determined by a student’s IEP team.

AESD has numerous opportunities for parent engagement and involvement. The District has goals in the LCAP plan to support the engagement and involvement of parents at the school site and District level. In addition, there are opportunities for parent engagement and involvement specific to special education through our Community Advisory Committee. The CAC meets a minimum of 3 times per year to monitor the needs of parents of our students with disabilities district wide, to develop additional opportunities for professional development and/or training, and to address activities related to SELPA CAC obligations. The meetings are public, and any parents or community members are welcome to attend. We encourage you to consider attending and participating in the process. Your involvement and feedback are important parts of the special education process.
