ANAHEIM, Calif. — For the first time in Anaheim Elementary School District history, all 23 AESD schools have earned recognition through the 2026 California Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) School Recognition Program, marking a districtwide accomplishment for AESD students, staff and school communities.
Across the District, two schools earned Platinum recognition, 14 earned Gold, five earned Silver and two earned Bronze.
PBIS recognizes schools for their work in creating positive, welcoming and supportive learning environments where students feel respected, connected and ready to learn. Having every AESD school recognized in the same year reflects the work taking place across all 23 campuses to strengthen positive behavior systems and practices for students.
“This is a proud moment for AESD because every one of our schools is part of this accomplishment,” said Superintendent Jesús Chavarría. “Behind each recognition are educators and staff members who work every day to make our schools places where students feel welcomed, respected and ready to learn.”
The districtwide effort began in fall 2025 and continued through the May 2026 application deadline. AESD’s Pupil Services team, including certified PBIS External Evaluators Yvette Magaña, Brent Ball and Leslie Hansen, worked closely with school administrators, and PBIS teams throughout the process.
The team conducted multiple visits to each AESD school, completed required School-wide Evaluation Tool assessments, supported school leadership teams with the Tiered Fidelity Inventory, provided training and assistance during monthly vice principal meetings, and reviewed school applications prior to submission.
The recognition of all 23 schools represents a shared accomplishment across AESD and highlights the collaboration throughout the District.
