Parent & Community Engagement

The keys to a successful school, family, and community partnerships.

AESD believes that family and community engagement is a fundamental component of student success and achievement. When families are engaged at home and at school, student achievement increases. The engagement of families and community members in the education of our children creates a positive bond between the home and school.

Below are ways to get involved in your child’s school

Family and Community Engagement Specialists (F.A.C.E.S.)

F.A.C.E.S. can provide information on programs/services available to students and families as well as school and/or district activities and procedures; referring families to other agencies, and fostering an ongoing partnership between the home and school.

Parent Leadership Institute

PLI is composed of volunteer parent leaders from each school site that gather monthly at the district meetings to develop their leadership skills to promote parent engagement at their school, district, and community.

The institute is structured with 21st-century learning. Parents are coached to work with the 4C’s (Communication, Collaboration, Creativity and Critical Thinking) that will help them develop a greater understanding of school programs.

PLI parent leaders facilitate parenting and academic workshops, promote parent engagement at school and district events, recruit parent volunteers, and represent the district at community events.
