It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our AWESOME school, “Home of the PRIDE!” The newly built site is filled with classrooms that are equipped with a high level of technology, a laser-like focus on student learning and a college-going campus that ascribes to an idea that all students at Ponderosa can be SCHOLARS! Our teachers and staff define scholars as being prepared, on time and ready to learn, and most importantly engage in collaboration, critical thinking, communication, creativity and compassion! Our students, become SCHOLARS!
The teaching and support staff have create a culture that is driven by two staunch beliefs: Safety and Learning! All student expectations are centered on a Positive Behavior Paradigm that encourages students to demonstrate PRIDE, RESPECT, EXCELLENCE, SAFETY and SCHOLARLY behaviors throughout our school community.
Student Learning drives the day to day schedule and all programs afforded to students and families alike. Teachers collaborate to plan lessons that will prepare students for the global economy and the 21st-century skill needed to be future thriving citizens. Student learning is defined by our ability to engage and give access to high-level thinking and learning activities for ALL students. Furthermore, this learning involves a focus on mastery of grade-level standards, reading and understanding expository text, writing across the curriculum and working collaboratively with their peers.
I invite you to be part of our vision for student learning by getting involved in our school community. We have many opportunities for our parents to participate both inside and outside the classroom. Our parent engagement activities are always available for our learning at home and connection to learning. Together we can support your child’s academic success on campus!
I look forward to personally meeting you as opportunities arise in our school to build positive parent-school relationships.
As always, if you have questions, comments, or feedback, please do not hesitate to call, email or drop-in.
