On Tuesday, January 22, 2019 AESD students at Loara Elementary School had an AMAZING opportunity to connect with the community and become lifelong music makers through NAMM’s annual Day of Service.
NAMM members from around the world united to provide AESD teachers, parents, students and administrators with an amazing music-making experience.
To discover why birds have different beaks Loara students simulated eating like birds do. Students gathered food mixed with stones and not mixed with stones. Students used a sharp beak (warbler) and a flat rounded beak (duck). It was fun to discover why various birds have different beaks to help them to survive in their differing environments. Students made their own beaks out of bent straws and flattened Dixie cups and used another cup to fill our “stomachs.”
