I am proud to be part of a community filled with talented students, dedicated educators, supportive families, and many strengths that make Edison a special place to learn, belong, and grow.

Education has always been an important part of my story. As a first-generation Peruvian American, I understand the powerful role that schools can play in a child’s journey. I am also a proud product of the Anaheim Elementary School District, where I attended Clara Barton Elementary School before continuing on to Brookhurst Junior High School and Savanna High School. For the past 15 years, I have had the privilege of serving students and families as both a teacher and administrator. These experiences have shaped who I am as an educator and strengthened my commitment to putting students at the heart of our work.

At Edison, our focus is Every Student, Every Day. Each student enters our school with unique strengths, experiences, cultures, languages, identities, talents, and dreams. Our responsibility is to recognize and build upon those strengths while creating an inclusive environment where students feel safe, secure, and a true sense of belonging. We want our students to know they are seen, valued, heard, and capable of achieving great things.

Culture and identity are an important part of who we are. We honor the diversity of our Edison community and strive to learn from the experiences and perspectives of our students, families, and staff. Our diversity makes us stronger, and we are committed to creating a school where everyone can see themselves represented, respected, and celebrated.

Building this kind of community takes all of us. Families are essential partners in the success of our students, and I want every family to feel that Edison is a place where they belong and where their voice matters. By listening to one another, building strong relationships, communicating openly, and working together, we can create meaningful opportunities for every child to thrive.

Our theme, Let’s Plant the Seed...Together We Will Grow, reflects this shared commitment. Growth happens when we recognize the strengths already within our students, nurture their potential, learn through challenges, and celebrate progress along the way. Each of us has something valuable to contribute to that growth, and I am committed to being present and supporting our students, families, and staff as we move forward together.

I am excited about all that lies ahead for Edison and grateful for the opportunity to serve this community. I know that by working together, we will continue to grow, make meaningful strides, and ensure that every student, every day has the opportunity to learn, belong, and soar.

Let’s Plant the Seed...Together We Will Grow!

With appreciation and pride,

Cherie Ventura Luna

Principal, Edison Elementary School
