FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ANAHEIM, Calif. (November 9, 2016) – Preliminary results from the Orange County Registrar of Voters indicate that Measure J, a $318 million bond measure to improve Anaheim elementary schools, has been approved.
As of 8 a.m. on November 9th with all precincts reporting, 21,611 (73.9%) votes were cast in support of Measure J with 7,628 (26.1%) opposed.
“We are thankful to the Anaheim community for their investment in our children and their future,” said AESD Superintendent Dr. Linda Kimble. “All of our students deserve to have the same educational opportunities as others in the region and within our District. The funds from Measure J will allow us to repair and modernize our neighborhood schools to support high-quality instruction.”
Once election results are certified in the coming weeks, the AESD Board of Education will establish an Independent Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee to monitor expenditures from the bonds and provide regular updates to constituents.
